:: About Me ::Hi there, let me give you a little intro to myself. I was born in 1983 in Stuttgart, Germany, and grew up in and around Hannover. Since I was about 2 years old, I suffered from heavy migraine. In school it became so strong that my parents had to take me out of it and my father taught me everything at home. Languages were a big problem because I was barely able to read anything without getting serious attacks of migraine. I learned Latin from my grandfather, who was the headmaster of a "Gymnasium" (similar to high school). But English more and more became a problem until my father, I was 14 at that time, started the brute force method and simply read out "The Lord of the Rings", at first with translations, of course. I can now say that, in a way, J.R.R. Tolkien saved my life (ok, just my school career but it feels like he saved my life) because no other book could have moved me more than LOTR, and this is what kept me going on and on through reading a book in a language you don't know at all. With the help of a new method in migraine treatment, I could actually start reading myself! So I read book after book (Illusion of Life was among the first) and seriously started learning 3D. Starting with GNOMON, I fought my way through internet tutorials, learned rigging and MEL with Jason's DVDs, and read books about classical/computer animation while working on scripts and a few animations on the way. Hobbies: Physics, astronomy, a little tennis, composing and mixing music, and LOTR (books and films). So that's me. Daniel Pook-Kolb |
